Motorola Android 11 Update Tracker : Devices that have received update so far. Yes Motorola was one the OEM's who was known for its stock android and timely android updates but lately after takeover from Lenovo its slacking in terms of updates. And has become slow but we never know how the company might change this year as it has launched few good devices in recent times.
So, if you a user who likes stock android on their device then, Motorola has your back they have been Famous for their Moto G and X series lineup of devices, Before they were part of Google and had a very good budget alternative from Google Nexus Lineup of devices with same stock android on top, Which the users loved very much.
They also added neat features on top of stock android to enhance and give a hint of Moto with their Moto Actions - Chop-chop to turn on flash light, Twist to turn on Camera and etc features which were very handy, I think they were the first OEM to implement gestures so intuitively on android.
Motorola Android 11 UI is build primarily using stock android, with few devices running on android one.
What's the sad story, After the takeover Motorola was bought by Chinese OEM Lenovo who were good at PC and Laptop but they weren't keen on android segment and their mission and goal for Motorola wasn't as good as what Google did. So let's take a deep dive on their update cycle.
Motorola was one the few companies who focused and clean stock android with fast updates, they were like Google devices with Motorola's own flare on top, They went from best software service providers to very bad, though they still give updates unlike just ghosting the updates.
But their quality and quantity of updates is gone down a bit they aren't committed like before and don't mention any promise of major or security updates, they consider the sales of their device into consideration and provide OTA updates. If their phone was sold more then their expectation then they would give them 2 major OS, If its not sold much they would consider dropping with single major OS update, thats my assumption from their past behaviour.
They have also enrolled for android one program for few of its devices with 2 year OS update and 3 years of security updates, But we aren't sure about the consistency and fastness of the updates, As they are wildly providing updates whenever they feel like.
Motorola hasn't updated any information regarding the timeline of the update and only few leaks have been shown of their beta builds and It shouldn't hard for Motorola to rollout the update as it built as close to stock android with minor additions in place. Only time will tell when the update will arrive of these devices.
