The Oppo F17 has received the official version of ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 today, on 28th June 2021.F17 was released with an Android 10 out-of-the-box in September 2020 and it has now received its first major OS update with the Android 11 based ColorOS 11.

Oppo had earlier released the June 2021 roll-out plan for the ColorOS 11 based on Android 11. In that plan, the Oppo F17 was set to receive the ColorOS 11 (Android 11) from 26th June 2021. Not so late, the Oppo F17 has now received the stable Android 11 update from today, 28th June 2021.

Oppo F17 ColorOS 11 (Android 11)

The official ColorOS 11 (Android 11) update for Oppo's F17 was released in batches in India at first and the official announcement has been made today. The Oppo ColorOS community has posted the details of the ColorOS 11 update based on Android 11 for the Oppo F17.

The latest update for the Oppo F17 upgrades the device with Android 11 based ColorOS 11 skin. Along with the update, a June 2021 Android Security patch has also been released.

The statement regarding the major Android 11 update for Oppo F17 on the ColorOS community was, "Dear ColorOS Superfans, The long-awaited Official version of F17 ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 Official Version finally kicks off. So hurry up & don't miss it."

Some points to note before installing the update -

1. Please backup important data on the phone before updating to avoid data loss caused by incompatibility or other unforeseen circumstances.
2. After updating to the latest Beta version, the operating system will do several actions to optimize your device automatically. It might lead to your device heating, lagging and fast battery draining. We recommend you turn off the screen and charge your device for a whole night after its updated success. Or keep using the device and it will become normal within few days.
3. Some third-party applications are not compatible with Android 11. Therefore, after updating these applications might not be available or have technical issues including lagging and crashing down in your device. The Oppo F17 comes in two variants, Oppo F17 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB. The Oppo F17 comes with a 6.44-inch Color Super AMOLED screen with a water-drop notch. It consists of a 16 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP quadruple rear camera and a 16MP front camera. It has a 2 GHz Octa-Core processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset. The available RAM and the storage space available are as per the variants. It comes with a battery size of 4000 mAh and an Android 10 out-of-the-box.

How long will it get updates?

As mentioned earlier, the Oppo F17 was released with an Android 10 out-of-the-box. It has now received its first major OS update with Android 11 based ColorOS 11 in June 2021.

Since it has received only one major OS update, it may be concluded that it is still in line for the upcoming Android 12 update. Therefore, the Oppo F17 will probably receive one more major OS update with Android 12. And, it will be the second/last major OS update for it.
