Vivo V15 Android 11 update under grayscale testing (Funtouch OS 11)
The word going around in town is that the Vivo V15 Android 11 update (Funtouch OS 11) rolled out in the form of grayscale testing available to a limited number of users. The Vivo V15 was globally launched in March 2019 with an Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. Vivo V15 received the major Android 10 update officially in August 2020. It has now bagged the stable Android 11 update which is under grayscale testing and available to a limited number of users.

The news of the Vivo V15 Android 11 update (Funtouch OS 11) in the form of grayscale testing broke out when a Vivo V15 user enquired about the major Android 11 update for his Vivo V15. He was replied to by the official Vivo Twitter handle of India. It read as “We have released the Android 11 for Vivo V15 handset under the grayscale test for some handset. If there will be no negative feedback then we will release the update frequency.”
Expected release is end of June, 2021 or maybe extended to july,2021 if any bugs and issues exist.
Vivo has officially announced that they have released the Android 11 update for the Vivo V15 under the grayscale testing. As the update is still under testing mode, it is available to only a selected number of users. From their tweet, we can also deduce that the update will become available to more Vivo V15 users once it is confirmed that there are no bugs or issues with the latest Android 11 update for the device.
As the update is still under grayscale testing and available to a limited number of Vivo V15 users, we don’t quite have our hands on the update log yet. But if it is anything related to the Vivo V15 Pro Android 11 update log, then it will have better animations, dynamic effects, optimized home screen effects, and more.
Its bigger brother the V15 Pro has already received an Android 11 update with Funtouch OS 10.5 instead of 11 and the update was around 3.3 GB for that device and we expect around the same update size for Vivo V15 as well.

The Vivo V15 comes with a 6.53-inch Color IPS LCD FullView Display screen with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on it. It consists of a 24 MP triple rear camera and a 32 MP pop-up front camera. It has a 2.1 GHz Octa-Core processor with a Mediatek Helio P70 chipset. The available RAM is 6 GB and the storage space available is 64 GB. The battery size of the Vivo V15 is 4000 mAh and it comes with an Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.
How long did Vivo take for the update?
Vivo V15 was released with an Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box in March 2019 and received the Android 10 update in August 2020. As the Android 10 was officially launched in September 2019, it took Vivo 11 months to release the first major OS update with Android 10 for Vivo V15.

Now, the device has received its second & last major OS update with Android 11 under grayscale testing after the official release of Android 11 in September 2020. Therefore, it took Vivo around 8 months to release the second major OS update for Vivo V15.
How long will it get updates?
As mentioned earlier, Vivo V15 was released with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. It received its first major update with Android 10 in August 2020. It has now received its second major update with the Android 11 under the grayscale testing.
Since it has received two major OS updates, the chances of a third major update are unlikely. It will continue to receive Security updates but it may also be concluded that it is not in line with the Android 12 update list and Android 11 should probably be the last major OS update on this device.
